LAB 3 - PACKET TRACER BUILD SHEET: GAME DAY NETWORK cyberteaches.com/networking/lab-3 For Cisco Packet Tracer 8.x. Build a scaled-down version: you do not need 20 player PCs. Two devices per segment are enough to prove the design works. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- BEFORE YOU BUILD: finish your subnet plan (Part 3). Replace every <...> below with values from YOUR plan. Example values are in [brackets]. 1. DEVICES 1 router (ISR4321), 1 switch (2960-24TT), 1 Server-PT, PCs for PLAYERS, PRODUCTION, and JUDGES (2 each), 1 AccessPoint-PT for spectators, 1 smartphone (SMARTPHONE-PT) as a spectator. 2. CABLES Router Gig0/0/0 -> Switch Gig0/1 (this link will be a trunk) PCs, server, and AccessPoint-PT -> switch Fa ports, grouped by VLAN 3. SWITCH: CREATE VLANS AND ASSIGN ACCESS PORTS Switch> enable Switch# configure terminal Switch(config)# vlan 10 Switch(config-vlan)# name PLAYERS Switch(config-vlan)# vlan 20 Switch(config-vlan)# name PRODUCTION Switch(config-vlan)# vlan 30 Switch(config-vlan)# name JUDGES Switch(config-vlan)# vlan 60 Switch(config-vlan)# name SPECTATORS Switch(config-vlan)# exit Switch(config)# interface range fastEthernet 0/1 - 2 Switch(config-if-range)# switchport mode access Switch(config-if-range)# switchport access vlan 10 (repeat for the PRODUCTION, JUDGES, and SPECTATORS ports) Switch(config)# interface gigabitEthernet 0/1 Switch(config-if)# switchport mode trunk Switch(config-if)# end Switch# show vlan brief <- check every port is in the right VLAN 4. ROUTER: ONE SUBINTERFACE PER VLAN (default gateway for each segment) Router(config)# interface gigabitEthernet 0/0/0 Router(config-if)# no shutdown Router(config-if)# interface gigabitEthernet 0/0/0.10 Router(config-subif)# encapsulation dot1Q 10 Router(config-subif)# ip address [10.60.0.1 255.255.255.224] (repeat for .20, .30, and .60 with each VLAN's gateway and mask; SPECTATORS uses 10.61.0.1 255.255.255.0) 5. ADDRESSES Give the server a static address in PRODUCTION. Give the PCs static addresses in their segments, or add a DHCP pool per VLAN: Router(config)# ip dhcp pool SPECTATORS Router(dhcp-config)# network 10.61.0.0 255.255.255.0 Router(dhcp-config)# default-router 10.61.0.1 Router(dhcp-config)# dns-server 8.8.8.8 Set the AccessPoint-PT SSID (for example, Invitational-Guest) with WPA2-PSK, and connect the smartphone to it with DHCP. 6. VERIFY - ping between two PCs in the same VLAN -> should succeed - ping from a PLAYERS PC to the server -> succeeds (routing on) - ping from the smartphone to a PLAYERS PC -> succeeds now; Step 7 fixes this - show vlan brief on the switch; show ip interface brief on the router 7. FIREWALL RULES (extension: implement rule set 1 as an IOS ACL) Router(config)# access-list 110 deny ip 10.61.0.0 0.0.0.255 10.60.0.0 0.0.0.255 Router(config)# access-list 110 permit ip any any Router(config)# interface gigabitEthernet 0/0/0.60 Router(config-subif)# ip access-group 110 in Re-test: the smartphone can no longer ping 10.60.0.x devices. In the real event, the permit line would allow only DNS (53) and HTTPS (443) to the internet, and a perimeter firewall would enforce the rest.
