LAB 2 - PACKET TRACER BUILD SHEET: ROOM 204 cyberteaches.com/networking/lab-2 Tested layout for Cisco Packet Tracer 8.x. Device models are suggestions; any router with a GigabitEthernet port and any 2960 switch will work. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- SIMPLIFICATION: The real Room 204 gateway has two LAN ports. In the simulator, connect SWITCH-B to SWITCH-A instead. Everything else matches the inventory. 1. PLACE DEVICES - 1 router (ISR4321 or 1941), named ROUTER-204 - 2 switches (2960-24TT), named SWITCH-A and SWITCH-B - 1 AccessPoint-PT, named WAP-204 - 4 PCs: ST-01 and ST-02 on SWITCH-A, ST-13 and ST-14 on SWITCH-B - 1 Server-PT named FILESERVER-204, 1 Printer-PT named PRINTER-204 - 1 Laptop-PT named TEACHER-LT (power off, replace its Ethernet module with the WPC300N wireless module, power on) 2. CABLE (Copper Straight-Through) ROUTER-204 Gig0/0/0 (or Gig0/0) -> SWITCH-A Gig0/1 SWITCH-A Gig0/2 -> SWITCH-B Gig0/1 SWITCH-A Fa0/1, Fa0/2 -> ST-01, ST-02 SWITCH-A Fa0/15 -> FILESERVER-204 SWITCH-A Fa0/20 -> WAP-204 Port 0 SWITCH-B Fa0/1, Fa0/2 -> ST-13, ST-14 SWITCH-B Fa0/8 -> PRINTER-204 3. CONFIGURE THE ROUTER (CLI tab) Router> enable Router# configure terminal Router(config)# hostname ROUTER-204 ROUTER-204(config)# interface gigabitEthernet 0/0/0 (use g0/0 on a 1941) ROUTER-204(config-if)# ip address 10.204.0.1 255.255.255.0 ROUTER-204(config-if)# no shutdown ROUTER-204(config-if)# exit ROUTER-204(config)# ip dhcp excluded-address 10.204.0.1 10.204.0.99 ROUTER-204(config)# ip dhcp excluded-address 10.204.0.200 10.204.0.254 ROUTER-204(config)# ip dhcp pool ROOM204 ROUTER-204(dhcp-config)# network 10.204.0.0 255.255.255.0 ROUTER-204(dhcp-config)# default-router 10.204.0.1 ROUTER-204(dhcp-config)# dns-server 8.8.8.8 ROUTER-204(dhcp-config)# end ROUTER-204# copy running-config startup-config (The two excluded ranges leave .100-.199 for DHCP, matching the inventory.) 4. STATIC ADDRESSES (Desktop > IP Configuration > Static) FILESERVER-204: 10.204.0.10 mask 255.255.255.0 gateway 10.204.0.1 PRINTER-204: 10.204.0.20 mask 255.255.255.0 gateway 10.204.0.1 5. DHCP CLIENTS (Desktop > IP Configuration > DHCP) ST-01, ST-02, ST-13, ST-14. Each should receive an address from .100-.199. 6. SECURE THE WIRELESS NETWORK (WAP-204 > Config > Port 1) SSID: choose a unique name (not "Room204" or a default name) Authentication: WPA2-PSK, Encryption: AES Pass phrase: a long, unique pass phrase (12+ characters, all four sets) Then on TEACHER-LT: Desktop > PC Wireless > Connect, choose your SSID, enter the pass phrase, and set IP Configuration to DHCP. 7. VERIFY On ST-13: Desktop > Command Prompt ipconfig (address in .100-.199, gateway 10.204.0.1) ping 10.204.0.1 (gateway) ping 10.204.0.10 (file server) On TEACHER-LT: ipconfig, then ping 10.204.0.10 On ROUTER-204: show ip dhcp binding (lists the leased addresses) 8. RECREATE A TICKET Pick one: delete the ST-14 cable (ticket 2043), turn off ST-02's interface (Config > FastEthernet0 > Port Status: uncheck On, like ticket 2044), or set ST-01 to DHCP before ROUTER-204 is configured (like ticket 2042). Record the symptom, the evidence (ipconfig, ping, link lights), the fix, and the verification.
